UDC electronic services librarian Michael Fitzgerald and co-author Noal Cohen discuss Rat Race Blues, their award-winning biography of saxophonist and composer Gigi Gryce. In addition to surveying the life and career of this exceptional musician, publisher, and educator, the presentation includes rare film footage and concludes with an examination of how the book’s publication has been an unlikely and inspiring influence on aspects of U.S. foreign relations in the Middle East.
