Trombonist/jazz historian David Sager discusses the compact disc reissue Cabaret Echoes: New Orleans Jazzers at Work, 1918-1927. This two-disc set complete with a sixty page booklet comprises the entire recorded oeuvre of the 1922 Kid Ory band as well as several other actual working bands of New Orleans musicians, such as Hightower's Night Hawks, Johnny De Droit's New Orleans Orchestra and The Original New Orleans Jazz Band. A special feature of the set is the inclusion of excerpts from interviews with many of the actual musicians themselves.

Cabaret Echoes is issued on Doug Benson and David Sager's Off The Record, a label devoted to reissues of rare early jazz. Their first issue, King Oliver, Off the Record: the Complete 1923 Jazz Band Recordings won international accolades from reviewers, collectors and fans for the unprecedented clarity of the recordings. Sager's annotation garnered a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Album Notes. Recital Hall (Performing Arts - Bldg. 46-West).
